THIS IS THE ONLY COMPLETE SOLUTION FOR SPECIAL SCHOOLS AND SENCOS IN THE UK

WHAT IS THE IDEAL PORTFOLIO OF ASSESSMENT FRAMEWORKS FOR YOUR SCHOOL? USE THE FRAMEWORK FINDER.

Seven years of working with SEND teaching schools across the country have meant that we have more pupil assessment schemes built into Earwig than you can shake a stick at. Once you add all the variations, grading systems, engagement measures and other options, the choice becomes a bit bewildering.

To make it easier for you to home in on that matching suite of frameworks or to find that one set of measures that you need to complete your school’s collection, we have created the Earwig Framework Finder.

All you need to do is select from a few multiple-choice questions and the Framework Finder will do all the hard work, searching our enormous library of schemes to come up with a few options for you to consider, along with notes about the salient points of each one.

Then you will be able to open each one up and review the detail, both with your colleagues and the Earwig experts because, if even after all this, you can’t quite find the right thing, we can create one, just for you.

Once you have chosen the frameworks that you want to use in Earwig, you then need to set them up so that they all work together to provide the rounded picture of pupil progress that everyone wants to see. The key thing to remember is that there is an Earwig Consultant with you all the way. Here are the next steps.

TAKE ME TO THE EARWIG FRAMEWORK FINDER

1 – GET THE GRADING SCHEME AND WORKING LEVELS SET

Set up a grading scheme and a set of ‘working levels’ for each framework which suits your style.

Once you have decided on the appropriate ‘suite’ of curricula and assessment frameworks for your pupil cohort you can then choose a grading scheme for each one. This can be either the standard ‘red, amber, green’ or an almost infinite variety of grades and scoring arrangements which then enable the system to automatically apply and display ‘best fit’ working levels for each pupil, to give you an instant snapshot of progress or a detailed illustration of progress over time.

2 –  Set up your pupil report format

Choose from a similar menu of pupil report templates. – and then configure the template to present reports in your style.

Once you have chosen your assessment framework suite you can then choose, from many templates, exactly the range of pupil and analytics reports that you will need to fulfil your reporting requirements, from parents and governors through to the local authority and the DfE. Each report template can then be further tweaked to present exactly as you want it to. If you don’t find one that suits your style, don’t worry. We’ll built a template just for you.

3 – Try out the school analytics generator

No more spreadsheet data analysis – all the analytics you need – in a couple of clicks.

Earwig takes all the data from each assessment scheme and provides you with instant analysis. Pupil Premium, Looked After or any other identified pupil group can be analysed against any other group of the whole pupil cohort. Or analyse by subject, topic or SEN code. If there is a particular report that you need which isn’t available. No sweat. We’ll build it for you in a week.

One Headteacher exclaimed that we had given her back a week of her summer holiday.

4 – Check out one comprehensive top level pupil report – across frameworks

Several frameworks plus therapists scores – one pupil report. Pupil-centred reporting and tracking.

Pull together the data and visual evidence from several different frameworks, add to this the input from therapist tests, reports from social workers and even contributions from parents and you have all the information you need to curate the development of each child, in one place, where all the relevant people can see it. So review meetings are easier and more productive.

HOW DO I MAKE THIS HAPPEN?

If you would like to talk to other schools, dealing with similar types of disability, which are already using the package we will be happy to put you in touch.

Contact Earwig for a free demonstration of the system. All special schools have unique sets of disabilities to deal with and methodologies for optimising pupil outcomes. So we work with you to configure a specific set of processes and progress measurement schemes which reflects your assessment strategy. We then monitor this with your SLT annually to evolve you’re the right implementation and training plan to keep your school ahead of the game – wherever the goalposts move in future.

The result is a professional and elegantly presented teaching evidence and assessment process for your whole school, from early years to adult learning. This enables staff to relax because they can

1. Reduce the time they spend on this aspect of the teacher’s workload
2. Improve the quality of evidence and reporting
3. Always stay abreast of changes in SEND pedagogy

This will help the school ensure that teaching outcomes for every child are better and more consistent and that the school is always ready for that phone call.
