Alex Hurle joins Earwig from B Squared
The Earwig team are delighted to welcome Alex Hurle to the Earwig school consulting and software development team. Alex has considerable experience in SEN assessment, in both the public and private sector and his knowledge of the subject is predicted to be a great asset to the continuing development and success of Earwig Academic.
Born and raised in the Thames Valley by parents both working in SEN provisions, Alex started work in education at a young age. After completing his BA in Education and Drama at Bath Spa University and his PGCE, which included Level 1 in BSL. Alex went on to teach in both SEN and mainstream provisions for many years, leading staff training and developing curricula and assessment frameworks.
In 2014 Alex left teaching to further his educational interests and began working at B Squared as Head of Education where he spent eight years leading teams of internal and external developers to design and build a range of assessment products for early years settings, schools, and colleges to use predominantly with learners who had special educational needs and disabilities.
In December 2022, Alex joined the Earwig family as Head of Education where he now provides evidencing and assessment support and advice to schools across the south and east of England drawing on his +20 years of educational knowledge and experience.
He says …
“I joined Earwig as a consultant to get back into schools and talk with practicing educators again. I have been passionate about child development and child psychology for as long as I can remember, and I look forward to sharing my assessment and pedagogical insights as I also learn and develop my understanding of contemporary school practice from the people who know it best.”
Alex lives near Reading and enjoys squash, badminton, cycling, camping and pub quizzes. He describes himself as a massive superhero nerd and challenges you to find a ‘super film’ he hasn’t watched.
